Razer Owns THX Now

Razer Owns THX Now

You know THX, right? It’s the audio company that George Lucas founded back in 1983. Though, the current THX isn’t the exact same as the one back then. It branched off from Lucasfilm years ago, way back in 2002. And now, the quality assurance system has a new owner. Razer has purchased the company.

Even though Razer now owns THX, it isn’t going to immediately pull it under its wing. It’s going to go forward as an “independent startup.”  While there have been no announcements yet, Ty Ahmad-Taylor, the THX CEO, says no one should “be surprised if we launched a few joint products with Razer.” THX will still continue the work it is already doing, making its own agreements and arrangements, while Razer will use the brand to improve its own products’ reputation.

Basically, it will hopefully mean better Razer products going forward. We’ll probably begin seeing THX-optimized Razer laptops, speakers, and accessories. As for THX, well, maybe it’ll extend its reach further into the world of video games?
