Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an action-adventure video game based on the live-action/animated film of the same name. There are actually three different games titled Who Framed Roger Rabbit that came out within three years of each other. Each game was released on a different system. The 1988 game was for DOS and Amiga, the 1989 game was for the NES, and the 1991 game was for the Game Boy.

All three of the games follow the same general plot and have similar gameplay. Iconic characters from the 1988 film make their appearance. Players get to explore the gritty world of Los Angeles and the wacky world of Toontown. All three of these video games bring the film to life in their own unique way.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit Premise

All three of the video games follow the same general plot as the 1988 movie. Players take on the evil Judge Doom as he tries to destroy Toontown with his dangerous dip chemical. Players will have to avoid Judge Doom’s weasel minions as they navigate through Toontown, looking for clues and collecting evidence. The fate of Toontown and all the toons that live there rests in the hands of the players.

Just like in the film, the titular Roger Rabbit and human detective Eddie Valiant take center stage. In both the 1988 and 1991 games players will control Roger Rabbit who is aided by Eddie Valiant. The 1989 game flips this dynamic and has the player control Eddie Valiant with Roger Rabbit following him around. Roger’s wife, Jessica Rabbit also appears in each game where she is either kidnapped by Judge Doom or gives the players tips.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit Series

The Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie has been a beloved film since it came out. For over 30 years, that film has been a cult classic that is still a fan favorite to this day. The movie is based on a book called Who Censored Roger Rabbit? which has its own series of novels. Outside of the three video games that share the same name, there are actually two of the games that feature Roger Rabbit. These are The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle for the NES and Hare Raising Havoc for the Amiga.
