Oops! Things got a little crazy this morning after a story broke on VG 24/7 about Bungie potentially allowing players to purchase heavy ammo synthesis packs with Silver, Destiny’s premium currency for which you pay real-world money. This sparked a bit of a frenzy, as Destiny players have been receiving one bad break after another. This, apparently, would have been the last straw for many, who were frustrated that Bungie was half-assing new content while brainstorming new ways to get as much money from players as possible.
The original story said that “…a source familiar with the matter [had] confirmed” the rumor to be true, but Activision has said otherwise. GameInformer reached out to Activision for comment and got a quick reply from a representative saying, “We’re not doing that.” Well, that’s that! Let this be a reminder to all of us to take rumors, positive and negative, with a grain of salt. All good leads start out as rumors, and they make for great conversations, fun speculation, and sometimes fantastic reporting. Just remember to reserve judgments and to put off action until you receive confirmation one way or another.
