Resistance Is Officially Over

None

During an interview with VG247 at the Game::Business::Law Summit at Southern Methodist University, Insomniac CEO Ted Price said that the Resistance series is, unfortunately, over. Instead of continuing work on Resistance, Insomniac will be moving on to their new titles—for example, the four-player co-op shooter, Overstrike. Unfortunately, no details about this new title have been revealed at this time.

Insomniac has also recently opened Insomniac Click, a new social games division. There is little information on the projects coming out of this studio, but it seems as if the studio’s goal is to increase the production values of social games.

“Certainly over the next couple years, we’re going to see a huge evolution in visuals in social games,” Price said. “It’s thanks to improving technologies. It’s thanks to browsers that are getting better and more powerful. It’s thanks to development teams—core traditional game teams who are moving into the space.” The studio’s stated mission is to create “deep worlds, rich stories, [and] accessible gameplay,” so perhaps we might be seeing some more serious and deep social gaming experiences come out of the studio.

With Resistance dead, all we have are our fond memories of filling the Chimera full of bullets and our hopes for the future of Insomniac Games. We will bring you more information about Overstrike and the projects of Insomniac Click as they become available.
