Respawn Removes Cheaters from Titanfall

Respawn Removes Cheaters from Titanfall

Since its launch, Titanfall for PC has been stricken with cheaters left, right and center. On March 13, it was announced on Respawn Entertainment’s official Twitter account that the studio was aware of cheaters in its game, and it would be logging and rooting any cheaters out of the game shortly.

A few days later, on March 17, Respawn’s senior programmer Jon Shiring stated via Twitter that the studio would be enabling an anti-cheat system soon, as it was very important to Respawn Entertainment.

On Tuesday, March 25, Respawn announced that Titanfall’s anti-cheat system is now being enforced. The system used FairFight to detect cheaters, and Respawn has been collecting data on suspected cheaters since the game’s release. The studio initially decided not to enforce bans immediately, but as of March 21 Respawn has started to ban cheaters from Titanfall .

You will know that you are banned from Titanfall when you see “ * FairFight: Cheat detected “ at the Private Lobby screen. The text is colored red, so it stands out from the varying shades of blue in the background. Respawn has also issued an FAQ on the matter, which can be read in full below.

  • Q.) So what happens if I get banned?

A.) Great news: you get to keep playing Titanfall ! Less-great news: you only get to play with other cheaters. You can play with other banned players in something that will resemble the Wimbledon of aimbot contests. Hopefully the aimbot cheat you paid for really is the best, or these all-cheater matches could be frustrating for you. Good luck.

  • Q.) If I’m banned, what happens if I make a party with my non-cheater friends?

A.) When anyone in your party is banned, then everyone in your party will be treated as banned for that play session. If you are a non-cheater and you invite a cheater friend into a party, you will be stuck playing against cheaters. If you stop inviting your cheater friend, you will once again get to play with the non-cheater population. You do not get permanently tainted just by playing with a cheater – you are only banned for cheating if you are actually cheating.

  • Q.) How do I get unbanned?

A.) You can contact [email protected] if you think you’ve been banned unfairly.

Titanfall released on PC and Xbox One on March 11, 2014 in the US, and then later on March 14 in the UK and Europe. The Xbox 360 version was initially meant to release with the others, but it was delayed until March 25. The title has now been delayed again until April 8 in North America and April 11 in Europe.
