Retro-Bit Announces New Game Boy Clone

Retro-Bit Announces New Game Boy Clone

Popular emulation hardware maker Retro-Bit has been having a great time at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Expo. Not only did it display a coffee table that doubles as a USB controller, it announced a far more practical and pocket-sized piece of hardware. The Super Retro Boy is an all-in-one Game Boy player that can handle Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges.

This little device sports a shatter-resistant high-resolution LCD screen. Retro-bit claims that its battery can support up to ten hours of gameply on a single charge. It will be released in North America this August and will cost $80.

It’s nice to see companies support retro gamers like this. Older game hardware tends to break down much faster than cartridges do, and it’s harder (and far more expensive) to find in workable format. The Super Retro Boy could be a great solution for somebody with a nice Game Boy or GBA library but without the hardware to play it.
