Robotoki Is Robert Bowling’s New Game Studio

None

Robert Bowling, former Call of Duty creative strategist, left Infinite Ward just a month ago, but that’s not stopping him from opening a new development studio. The studio will be called Robotoki, which is going to be focused on treating its developers right.

“Robotoki is focused on being a developer development studio that just happens to make games,” Bowling told Game Informer. “We are focused on our team first and everything else second, because I believe as an industry; we have a lot to learn on how to treat talent. While we continue to out stride film and music entertainment in other areas, we are falling severely behind in how to properly inspire and support our creative talent.”

Robotoki’s first project will be revealed later this year. Bowling is trying to develop a new scheme of multi-platform gameplay, believing that users should be able to access the game world through multiple devices in different ways. The PC experience would differ from the mobile experience, for example, but playing on either platform would aid your progress in the game.

Robotoki will be completely self-funded and it will only partner with companies that support that model. It’s another step away from the old publishing model of the gaming industry, and a step toward developers funding their games themselves.
