See the New Guinness Book of World Records Gamer’s Edition

For over a decade now, world record-gatekeeper Guinness has been courting the video game community. The Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition series hit its 13th installment last year, slapping the official 2020 label at the end of the title. The cover stars are who you’d expect this time, including Spider-Man, Super Mario, and (Detective) Pikachu. All of those and more were involved with various video game record-breaking, and you can check out the context  by picking up a copy.

The Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2020 also includes a special Fortnite chapter. What does that mean? Well, it’s a chapter dedicated to Fortnite , obviously. Aside from all the wild numbers we’ve seen from Fortnite in the past year, Guinness also ran a contest of sorts adding some community participation to the world of gaming record-holding. Basically, using Fortnite ’s creative mode, players were able to submit their own custom Fortnite challenges, with the hopes of seeing their work appear in future editions of the book.

As someone who has covered games over the years, 2019 was definitely a year of broken records. From Nintendo releasing hit after hit on the Switch, to Sony doing ridiculous numbers with Spider-Man and God of War , to even Capcom breaking new ground with Monster Hunter , 2019 was wild. All of that stuff and more is guaranteed to be included in this volume, especially considering, you know, Spidey is on the cover and all.

For more information on what’s included in the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2020 book, as well as more on the Fortnite feature, you can check out the official Guinness World Records website.
