Sega Acquires Endless Space Developer Amplitude Studios

Sega Acquires Endless Space Developer Amplitude Studios

Sega has purchased Amplitude Studios, the developer behind Endless Space , Endless Legend , and Dungeon of the Endless . Sega has been making some incredible acquisitions lately, and now Amplitude joins the ranks alongside Atlus, Creative Assembly, and Relic Entertainment. The latter studios give Sega a strong presence in the strategy-game market, and a strong presence on PCs, which has been atypical for Sega until recently. While this is certainly exciting for Sega fans, the developers at Amplitude are the real winners here.

Amplitude co-founder Mathieu Girard had the following to say in an official statement (via Eurogamer ): “Joining the SEGA family represents the culmination of five years of hard work from myself and Romain and everyone here at Amplitude Studios. For the Endless series to be alongside PC franchises with such heritage as Total War and Dawn of War in the SEGA Europe stable puts our games where we feel they deserve to be.” If you’re a fan of 4X strategy games in the vein of Master of Orion , then keep an eye on Sega – there’s more 4X strategy goodness on the way.
