Split/Second: Velocity, also known as Split/Second in some parts of the world, is an action-packed racing game. The game involves an interesting narrative, where the player enters a reality TV competition, where racing chops are important. The game was developed by Black Rock Studio and published by Disney in 2010. Split/Second: Velocity saw a release on both PC and console with versions for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was also later ported to the PlayStation Portable. Let’s explore the game that is Split/Second: Velocity and examine the cheats it offers.
Split/Second: Velocity Premise
In Split/Second, players enter a high-octane, fictional reality TV show where racing combines breakneck speeds but also strategic destruction. Players race for fame and fortune, navigating through various events that all focus on destructible environments. These environments can be altered or destroyed through what are called power plays. These actions are triggered by the drivers during the races. The gameplay revolves around building a power play meter by executing stunts and precision driving. As the meter fills, players can trigger special events to create obstacles for opponents, open shortcuts, or significantly alter sections of the circuit. The intensity of these events varies, with events offering different scales of destruction and strategic opportunities to the player.
The game’s unique selling points are the ever-changing race tracks and racing gameplay involving strategy. Level one power plays are available with a partially filled meter, whereas level two requires a full meter for more dramatic effects. Players choose whether to use a smaller power or save for a more destructive effect. Timing these power plays is crucial for gaining an advantage. Some power plays are reusable, while others permanently alter the race’s landscape.
In addition to the single-player mode, Split/Second also offers an 8-player online multiplayer mode and a 2-player split-screen offline mode. The game features 15 tracks set in a life-sized city environment, with additional tracks available through downloadable content. The game features several DLC packs. The Time Savers DLC unlocks cars, tracks, and modes immediately without the need for Season unlocks. The High Octane Supercar pack, Survival at the Rock pack, and Deadline pack add new cars, tracks, and modes, including Survival Race and Deadline mode. The final DLC, Quarry Onslaught, introduced a new course and the Onslaught game type.
Split/Second: Velocity Characters
Split/Second does not focus on individual characters or their backstories. Instead, the players become central characters of this reality TV-themed racing game. Each player navigates through the explosive racing world, where cars take center stage. The game features a host of futuristic vehicles that draw inspiration from many real-world cars. Unlockable vehicles, each with different attributes and specialties, are available throughout the journey across fifteen races.
