It turns out that Street Fighter X Tekken’s expanded roster of DLC characters is unfortunately just locked on-disc content. The characters were teased as exclusives for the Vita version that may come to consoles as DLC one day. They included Lars, Alisa, Dudley, Elena, Sakura, Blanka, Bryan, Jack, Christie, Lei, Guy, and Cody. A few fans found through a glitch that all of these characters are on the disc in fully playable forms, complete with voice acting. A lot of fans in the fighting game community now feel cheated, considering there is literally nothing stopping us from playing as these characters at release other than arbitrary Capcom business roadblocks. They even have fully implemented intros and endings, which have also been recently leaked to the Internet.
How do you feel about this? Is it okay for Capcom to lock characters as DLC just because? Does a developer have a right to charge us for on disc DLC? Or is it unethical to lock portions of your game in order to get more money from the fan base? By Angelo M. D’Argenio |
