So Many New Wiis, So Little Time

So Many New Wiis, So Little Time

None

Even though the Wii U is coming out next year, we keep getting these brand new shiny bundles that seem to be telling us Nintendo wants us to stick with Wii. But then they refuse to port great games like Xenoblade, Pandora’s Tower, and The Last Story to America, instead choosing to put all their eggs in one basket for the Wii U.

Anyway, if you still don’t have a Wii, a brand new bundle is hitting U.S. shelves on October 23. It’s going to include a black Wii, black Wiimote, and black Nunchuck, along with New Super Mario Bros. Wii and a Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack (but not Super Mario Galaxy itself.) It will retail for $149.99, so pick it up if you are excited for Nintendo’s upcoming new releases like The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and, um, yeah… Skyward Sword is going to be awesome.

If you live in Europe, on the other hand, you’ll be getting a Wii of a different color. Blue to be exact. This Wii will come packaged with Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games and a sky blue Wiimote. This new blue Wii will be arriving at European retailers on November 18.

Unfortunately this new blue Wii won’t be able to play GameCube games, and doesn’t even have ports for the GameCube controllers. While that might not seem like all that big of a problem if you don’t plan on playing GameCube games, these ports were also used for certain peripherals, like DDR’s dance pad. But on the upside, the console is a bit smaller now that the GC parts are gutted out.
