Some Ubisoft Games Will Be Unplayable For A Bit

None

Ubisoft recently announced that it will be moving the hosting of many of its online services from a third-party data center to a new Ubisoft-run location. The transition will supposedly allow Ubisoft to deliver a better online experience and will improve the quality of their network infrastructure overall.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft is well known for being a supporter of the “always connected” form of DRM that requires you to connect to Ubisofts servers in order to play their games, even in single-player mode. As a result, the following six games will be unplayable when Ubisoft takes their servers offline for the transition on February 7th:

  • Assassin’s Creed – Mac

  • Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 – PC

  • Might & Magic: Heroes VI – PC

  • Splinter Cell: Conviction – Mac

  • The Settlers 7: Path to a Kingdom – PC

  • The Settlers – Mac

Of course, the online features of all Ubisoft games will be inaccessible during the transition, DRM or not. Uplay, Ubisoft’s proprietary online game service, will also be offline during the migration, as well all Ubisoft websites except for the Official Forums and Solution Center.
