Sony Admits “Share Play” is Capped to 60 Minutes

Sony Admits “Share Play” is Capped to 60 Minutes

As confirmed to GameStop at this year’s Gamescom on Thursday, August 14, Sony has admitted that its newly announced “Share Play” will have a 60-minute cap per person using the feature, but there’ll be no limit as to how many times you can use said feature.

For those who don’t know, Sony’s Share Play will be introduced with the PlayStation 4’s 2.0 system update. In a nutshell, Share Play will allow for you to play local multiplayer games with friends who aren’t physically with you.

According to GameStop , Share Play works like how you’d use one controller between two players: you’ll be able to virtually hand over the console to your friend, like taking turns on a singleplayer mission back in the day. The same works for inviting a friend to join you in a local multiplayer match.

So, even though the feature will have a 60-minute cap on it, you’ll still be able to use it once those 60 minutes are up.

Sony’s boss of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, offered up additional details on Share Play, where he compared it to Sony’s streaming service, “PlayStation Now”.

How it works is, for example, say, a friend has a game that I don’t. I ask them to let me play it, and if they send me an invitation, I can access their PS4 and play while watching the video that is streamed.

We’ll bring you more information on Gamescom and Sony’s Share Play should further information reach our ears.
