Special EU New 3DS XL Ships With Majora’s Mask Pre-installed

Nintendo’s first Nintendo Direct of the year revealed that the forthcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be both be available on its own and included with the New 3DS XL for gamers in Europe. Presidents of both Nintendo and Nintendo of Europe, Satoru Iwata and Satoru Shibata respectively, hosted the stream that went live on Wednesday, January 14, and announced–among other things–the release date of Majora’s Mask and the New 3DS. The United states will also receive the special edition of the handheld, but the game will not come pre-installed.

On Friday, February 13, the sequel to The Ocarina of Time and the successor to the 3DS will be available in both North America and Europe. However, European gamers will receive a special New 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Edition, which is a decorated new 3DS XL (see above) with the game pre-installed on an included 4GB microSDHC card. Majora’s Mask 3D itself will launch for 2DS and regular 3DS handhelds as well. It’s touted that playing the game on Nintendo’s new hardware will offer enjoyable “super-stable 3D and enhanced camera controls” with the use of the new C Stick, which essentially acts as a second analogue stick.

The New 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Edition will also be packaged with a set of Augmented Reality cards, a Quick-Start Guide and a Skull Kid Statue. However, neither this special New 3DS XL and the standard New 3DS handhelds will ship with a charger, which will have to be purchased separately. Thankfully, ordering the bundle from the official Nintendo UK store will include a charger for free. The store itself currently lists the New 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Edition for £209.99.

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL themselves boast improved 3D technology and a built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality. The handheld hardware also features “an increase in CPU power,” which will allow for smoother transitions, and faster load times and download speeds. On the day of release, the new console will even come included with a free video-on-demand service that’ll stream series like Pokémon and Kirby , with new content promised to be added regularly.
