Square-Enix has just released its first Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness trailer, and it’s pretty awesome. It starts by showing us a whole rundown of the entire history of the series. That history begins with Star Ocean 4, which takes place during Space Date 10, though oddly enough it was also the most recent Star Ocean game. We then see the first SNES Star Ocean game (or in this case an anime remake), which took place during Space Date 346. Star Ocean 2 , much loved as one of the best in the series, took place in Space Date 366. Finally we see Space Date 772, the date that Star Ocean 3 takes place, which also ends the Star Ocean timeline.
Star Ocean 5 will be taking place in Space Date 537, a long time before Star Ocean 3 and a long time after Star Ocean 2 . Unfortunately, no gameplay was shown, but we did get to see some new screenshots. Here is the Japanese-language trailer for your viewing pleasure:
