This is a really great week for people who used to love Nintendo Power. First, Archive.org brought back 13 years of the magazine. Not the entire run, mind you, but the first 13 years’ worth of issues are all online to read. Now, Viz Media is bringing back Super Mario Adventures , the Kentaro Takekuma manga that ran in issues of the magazine.
The Super Mario Adventures reprint covers the comic that appeared in Nintendo Power in 1992, as well as CoroCoro Comic in Japan in 1993. It follows Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi as they go through the Mushroom Kingdom, trying to save Princess Toadstool from Bowser. It’s not particularly dramatic, though, allowing Mario and Luigi to enjoy as normal lives as possible while they try to save the day.
We’ll be able to read Super Mario Adventures again on October 12, 2016. It’ll be $14.99, which isn’t too bad for an anthology like this. Keep an eye out for it, in case you want to rekindle all those warm memories.
