The Tales series has been making a strong impact on Western fans of JRPGs since at least the GameCube’s Tales of Symphonia, with new iterations in the franchise coming to North America on the PlayStation 2, 3DS, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 3. They do tend to have an awfully long localization cycle, though.
Take, for example, Tales of Graces F, which came to US shores almost a year and a half after its Japanese release and didn’t arrive in Europe until five months later. In fact, we’re still waiting on Tales of Xillia, which is slated for release in August (in both territories almost simultaneously, at least), though that one came out in Japan in September of 2011. That’s almost two years!
And, now, Tales of Xillia 2 has been confirmed for Western release. Japan has been able to play it since November of last year, but North American and European gamers will have to wait until 2014 to get their hands on it. We don’t know when in 2014, but we can hope it’s fairly early.
