A Namco Bandai teaser site has just gone up at Next.Tales-ch.jp. It’s a countdown site and unless you have the reasoning skills of a three year old you can probably surmise that it’s counting down to the next “Tales of” RPG reveal. The last Tales game to come out in America was Tales of Xillia , which came out a whole two years after its debut in Japan. It has a sequel, Tales of Xillia 2 , which has not yet seen the light of day here in the states. Both games were given praise for their stories and graphics but were criticzed for their dumbed down battle system and stripped down take on multiplayer gameplay.
The newest Tales game will be revealed on a Nico Nico stream at 7PM Japanese time on December 12th. As excited as this may make traditional JRPG fans, remember that this is a Japanese teaser site. Whatever game that is announced is still in development and will likely take a few years to come out in Japan, and then a few more years to come out here in America. Long story short, we are going to be waiting quite a while for a new Tales game here in the states. Maybe they will hold us over by localizing Tales of Xillia 2 .
