Two New First-Party Nintendo Wii RPGs Confirmed; Game Websites Live

None

A reboot of the classic Xenosaga franchise as well as a new RPG IP called The Last Story appear to be deep into development for Nintendo Wii. In addition to being listed in Nintendo’s recent earnings report, both games have been given their own splash pages through Nintendo’s Japanese website.

Xenoblade is being developed by the recently acquired MonolithSoft, which has created the Xenosaga games since the franchise’s first entry, Episode I, was released back in 2002. The teaser website shows two gigantic mechs going at it before the screen changes to a lone power-blade stuck in the earth.

Also, The Last Story is a non-traditional RPG that, according to Andriasang, “is being developed jointly by Nintendo and Mistwalker,” and should release this year in Japan for Wii. The most notable detail revealed about the game is that it is trying to implement some unconventional mechanics.
