SEGA Teases Needlemouse – a New 2D Sonic

None

While we’ve applauded the great strides Sonic Team has made in putting together compelling and innovative 3D content for Sonic, the magic of the original, 2D speedy platformers just never seemed to be equaled.

It seems SEGA has been listening to reviewers and fans alike, teasing a brand new 2D Sonic game, code named Needlemouse, for release in 2010. Today, a 30 second teaser trailer was released followed by an official site for the game that shows images of revamped Green Hill Zone structures.

UPDATE:

The Needlemouse website is actually a fan-generated page that is commited to bringing back the Sonic titles with updated graphics.  As such, it has nothing to do with SEGA’s recent announcement of a new 2D Sonic.
