The big problem with video game peripherals is that they are only used on a limited number of games. Ultimately, you have to weigh the cost of the peripheral against the amount of games that utilize it, and this unfortunately often ends up in a decision not to get the peripheral at all. For example, when the clunky new Nintendo 3DS Expansion Slide Pad was originally announced, the only game it was compatible with was Monster Hunter 3 G. With that being the sole game on the Slide Pad’s compatibility list, few gamers thought the peripherals will be a worthwhile purchase. However, Nintendo has announced that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors Vs., and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will all utilize the Slide Pad Expansion peripheral. These are all big-name titles from top third-party publishers, so the Slide Pad is starting to look like a more worthwhile purchase.
