Gabe Newell, cofounder of Valve, has done quite well for himself. In fact, he’s done so well that he’s become a billionaire. According to a recent article in Forbes, Valve is valued at somewhere between $2 – 4 billion. In an interview with the magazine, Newell revealed that his company is worth more per employee than Google or Apple.  A lot of that has to do with Steam, which serves over 30 million customers. According to the NPD Group, sales of software on Steam outstripped in-store purchases for the first time last year, which was a huge milestone. Last year, Valve had its biggest year to date, with 200% year-over-year growth. This year will see some big releases from Valve as well, including Portal 2 being released in April. |
