The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers is probably the most memorable LoTR movie to me that I can remember. I’m probably speaking from the perspective of rose-tinted glasses, but why it’s so memorable to me is probably because of the Helm’s Deep scene, and because I played a few LoTR games that featured Helm’s Deep as a main set piece, thus solidifying that battle scene in The Two Towers in my head even more throughout the latter years of my childhood.
Needless to say, the Helm’s Deep expansion for The Lord of The Rings Online has now launched in North America and Europe for the price of $39.99–for the base version.
This new expansion to the F2P MMO will feature the actual battle of Helm’s Deep itself, which will open to players as earlier as level 10 when you enlist as a soldier in the Battle of the Hornburg, open up new places to explore in the Western parts of Rohan, where you can rally up the five ridings as Rohan returns to its former glory, and 10 additional levels have been added to the level cap, allowing you to now max out your character to level 95.
“ Helm’s Deep, our fifth major expansion, allows players to experience one of the most iconic moments in The Lord of the Rings, ” said Kate Paiz, Executive Producer of The Lord of the Rings Online in a press release. “ Starting today they can join with the Free Peoples of Middle-earth in the Battle of the Hornburg and experience this epic conflict first hand. ”
