The Order: 1866 Writing Team Snags Emmy-Winning Writer

The Order: 1866 , the new steam-punk (sort of) shooter coming out for the PlayStation 4, will have some pretty big blockbuster talent attached. Kirk Ellis, Emmy Award-winning scriptwriter for the HBO miniseries John Adams will be co-writing the game’s story. This information comes from a Game Informer interview with Ready at Dawn cofounder Ru Weerasuriya, who went on to say that the design team specifically looked for someone who hasn’t worked in games before. “We can bring the game side of it,” Weerasuriya said. “I want him to bring something completely fresh, like something we might miss.”

The Order: 1866 was originally announced during Sony’s E3 press briefing this year. We have not seen much from the game since then, but as one of the first ever revealed games for the PS4, most are assuming that the game will come out in 2014. The game takes place in London, 40 years after the Industrial Revolution, but few details of the plot have been given, such as why everyone seems to have steampunk laser guns… sorry Neo-Victorian laser guns . We will bring you more information on the release of The Order as it becomes available.
