The Power of Glove Documentary Shows The Controller Love

Filmmakers Adam Ward, Andrew Austin and Paula Kosowski have been working on their documentary The Power of Glove in order to tell the story of “the world’s most notorious video game controller.” While the team has made progress, they need approximately $15,000 to complete their film, so they’ve decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign.

The Power of Glove will document the history and cultural impact of The Power Glove . While the Power Glove, which was released by Mattel in 1989, is notorious for not working properly, the trailer shows footage of those who show a degree of respect for it. The Power Glove is among the first attempts at motion control technology, and artists have been repurposing the controller since its release. For these and many other reasons, the team hopes to document the controller’s legacy to, according to the Kickstarter page, how the controller was unfairly “swept under the rug.”

As of right now, The Power of Glove has accumulated $1,659 of its $15,000 funding goal, and the campaign ends on September 4, 2014.
