Kickstarter’s Game Funding Reportedly Dropped by Half

Kickstarter’s Game Funding Reportedly Dropped by Half

As reported by New Gamer Nation on Thursday, October 2, a new report has arisen regarding funded games through the crowd-funding website, Kickstarter.

According to this report, it has been revealed that the service’s video game campaigns have been projected to deliver half as much of its total user-donated funding collected this year compared to how videogame Kickstarter campaigns fared back in 2013.

According to New Gamer Nation, $58 million was donated to video game campaigns through Kickstarter during last year, while this year has so far only accumulated $13.5 million. If things go at their current pace, the total tally is projected to amount $27 million donated to video game Kickstarter campaigns.

Speculation as to why this is the case points towards recent Kickstarter failures that didn’t keep their promises with little to no legal recourse. It’s also been documented that many campaigns needed to raise more money due to their Kickstarter funds being exhausted.

We’ll bring you more on kickstarter should further information reach our ears.
