Former Bioshock Infinite Developers Announce The Black Glove

While it came as shocking news when Bioshock Infinite developers Irrational Games announced its closure, it appears the studio’s has somewhat regrouped. Bioshock Infinite writer Joe Fielder and a group of former staff members have formed a new studio called Day for Night Games, and their first game will be called The Black Glove .

In an interview with Polygon, Day For Nights’ Joe Fielder discovered that his former coworkers would be perfect for forming the new company because they all share similar ideas.

“As soon as we were out in the world, I’m sure we just started thinking of ideas and spitballing and whatnot. You definitely think, ‘Who would I love to work with further?’ In the case of the old crew of Irrational, there are dozens of people,” Fielder told Polygon.

Their first game, The Black Glove , will take place in a theater called The Equinox. Players will travel to the past in order to help improve the works of an artist, filmmaker and musical act.  It’s unclear whether the theater exists in the past, present or future, and it’s up to the players to uncover its mysteries. Apart from that, the narrative unfolds depending on your decisions.

“The story will tie directly into the gameplay,” Fielder said to Polygon. “Even a wrong turn, even misinterpreting a hint or just experimenting could produce interesting results. You’ll have all these different sites to see, wonders to behold. There’ll be large changes to the narrative and to the world around you.”

Day for Night Games cites Stanley Parable and Gone Home developers as their source of inspiration, which makes sense. The Bioshock franchise manages to blend gunplay with some of the most memorable storytelling in recent gaming. The Black Glove seems like the next logical step for ex Irrational Games developers.

Day for Night Games has also announced that they will launch a Kickstarter campaign for The Black Glove next month, which is a wise choice considering E3 is next week. We’ll be sure to keep you updated.
