At the 2011 Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, Sony Ericsson fully unveiled its launch plans for the Xperia PLAY (aka the PlayStation phone). The Xperia PLAY is billed as a smartphone that is as versatile as any other on the market, but it also offers a gaming experience that any serious gamer would want.

Stopping short of announcing a full line-up, Sony Ericsson revealed that about fifty games are currently in development, including twenty titles from Gameloft. The phone will also come with six games pre-installed. Other developers currently working on software for the platform include Electronic Arts, PopCap, and Namco Bandai. GLU Mobile/Activision is also working on a Guitar Hero game for the platform.
