There Won’t be a Console Port for Hearthstone Anytime Soon

What with Blizzard Entertainment’s hands being full with Hearthstone’s upcoming singleplayer adventure and an Android version of the game being in the works, the studio told Eurogamer last week that it isn’t putting aside time to think about bringing the free-to-play card game to consoles.

The idea of getting it onto console has come up from players, ” production director Jason Chayes said in a phone interview with Eurogamer. ” It’s not something we’re actually looking at right now. We feel like we have our hands full in the short term with getting onto Android as soon as we can, which is kind of one of the big priorities we’re looking at right now.

However, for those who would really like to see Hearthstone brought to consoles, Chayes explained that, should there be enough player demand, the studio will consider the idea proper.

What we’ve said in the past, and this will continue to be the case, is that we want to be able to hear back from our community and our players what they’re really interested in, what they’re very passionate about, ” he explained. ” If getting Hearthstone onto console is something there’s a huge interest in, then we’d love to hear about that so it’s something we can be thinking about.

Hearthstone entered Open Beta back in mid January, initially in North America and later in other regions. The title officially released a couple months later in early March. It launched on iPad globally after first launching in Australia, Canada and New Zealand in early April. The Hearthstone World Championships have also been announced in time for BlizzCon 2014 .
