This is Vegas Cancelled?

This is Vegas Cancelled?

None

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever to hear anything more about Warner Bros’, initially Midway’s, sandbox game This is Vegas. This could be because Warner Bros may have finally decided to pull the plug on the game. While this may come as a shocker to those who were eagerly awaiting their chance to get their hands on this title, apparently the game was becoming an incredible financial burden on its new owners, much like it was for its previous one.

Citing a “cast iron source” close to the project, CVG claims that This is Vegas is officially cancelled after three years in development. The source states “Apparently the entire This Is Vegas project has been totally canned.” The source explains “Midway spent in the region of $43 million up to the point when it was being sold to WB.” The source continues “It was moving along to a point where the title was on the schedule for release late last year – but still needed another eight months to a year to finish with a studio burn rate of $250,000 per month.” Finally, the source wrapped up saying the game had “a silly budget when you think that games like Konami’s Saw – which made profit – were built with around $3m and BlackLight Tango Down was made for $2.5m.”
