THQ Delays Numerous Games

THQ Delays Numerous Games

THQ has recently announced that it will be delaying much of its coming lineup. South Park: The Stick of Truth, Metro: Last Light, and Company of Heroes 2 will all be delayed due to a desire to make sure that each title is of the highest quality possible.

South Park was originally slated for a March 5 th release, and now will be coming sometime during “early fiscal 2014.” In its stead, Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2 will be launching sometime in March 2013. Both titles were originally slated for an “early 2013” release.

Aside from quality assurance, official reasons were not given for the games’ delays. However, THQ has recently posted a $21 million loss from its last three month fiscal period. THQ has begun talks with investment banking firm Centerview Partners LLC in hopes of increasing its capital.

In the end, game delays tend to cost companies more money than it saves them. So the real question is, will these delays actually help out THQ financially in the long run? In addition, will the hype surrounding each game’s release carry on through the delay period?
