Rockstar is developing a new game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The studio has been working on the game for years already, as is evident from the leaks. The release of the game is suspected to be either next year or the early stages of 2025. However, at this point, not a lot of official information is available, despite plenty of rumors and even leaked gameplay.
What is fairly certain so far is that the game is going to combine aspects from several previous GTA games. The gameplay is likely close to what we’ve come to expect from Grand Theft Auto V and its multiplayer counterpart, Grand Theft Auto Online. However, the location is more of a combination of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. According to the leaked information, the game is going to have several locations, and perhaps even different states. The main location is, however, expected to be Vice City, the fictional city in Florida.
Grand Theft Auto VI?
All signs point toward this being the next mainline title for the series, which would also probably mean the name is going to be Grand Theft Auto VI. It would be the sixth installment in the franchise’s core lineup, and naturally carry the next Roman numeral. Ever since Grand Theft Auto III, the game’s name has been officially shown in Roman numerals. This is likely going to be the case with the new title, too.
Since Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar has focused on creating larger-than-life titles. The trend is expected to continue. There seems to be no room for spin-offs in Rockstar’s plans, except for mobile and portable games like Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. So while it is possible that Rockstar will name the game after the locations available in the game, it is unlikely. Especially, since it is very possible that the game spans more than one state.
When Do We Know?
Reportedly, they will reveal the game’s official name very soon. Rockstar will likely hold a press conference to officially unveil the game, its name, and other details about the title. Rumors have it that Rockstar is preparing an event on October 26, so we won’t have to wait long for the name.
