It’s confirmed. Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming. We have all been waiting for it. We have all been taunted by rumors and false leaks of its creation and near completion. Well, now it has been made official. Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that following his team’s latest FF offering, they would begin production on Kingdom Hearts 3 . This announcement rocked Kingdom Hearts fans’ collective worlds. However, I think an important question to ask is, “Who will Disney feature in the next Kingdom Hearts installment?” With their acquisition of Marvel and LucasArts, Disney has the potential to create a crossover RPG of truly epic proportions. That being said, here is a list of characters that we believe should be included in Kingdom Hearts 3 . The first five in this list are the evil characters we would like to see. And the second half are the good characters we would like to see make an appearance.
Galactus
The oldest being in the Marvel universe, Galactus would be a great addition to the Kingdom Hearts gallery of villains. He wields insane cosmic power and can summon his minions–the punisher cyborgs–at will to wreak havoc on any who oppose him. The fact that he survives by feeding on the energy of a living world could potentially feed right into the story of Kingdom Hearts fairly well. It would also leave the player having to learn the Images of Ikkon spell in order to defeat Galactus and his greatest weapon, the Ultimate Nullifier.
General Grievous
Much like Galactus, Grievous also has minions called the MagnaGuards that he can summon to fight by his side. He is also well versed in all forms of Jedi combat and was a tool of the Jedi’s destruction. That fact that he can wield multiple weapons at a time allows for some potentially intense combat sequences. In addition to his combat skills, his multiple appendages allow him to maneuver much more quickly than the average droid or machine. He also has a distaste for all things organic, so that could also feed into the story of Kingdom Hearts well also.
Mr. Sinister
This guy is bad. And as far as Kingdom Hearts is concerned, he would be a great candidate. He is able to manipulate the minds of others. He can shape shift. He has total control of his body, down to the cellular level. He can use telekinesis, project bursts of energy, and regenerate when damaged. All of these things lend themselves to being a decidedly difficult foe to defeat in Kingdom Hearts . At and one point in his evil career, he brainwashed children to be his host in the event that his physical body was ever destroyed.
Boba Fett
Boba Fett could make a great addition to Kingdom Hearts . He is a bounty hunter of high order. He can track his marks through space and catch them at their weakest moments so that they don’t elude capture. He is also a mercenary, which could add a whole new degree of plot depth as you may even be able to “buy” his services rather than defeat him in head-on combat. Boba Fett is an iconic character in the Star Wars universe and would make a brilliant villain, anti-hero, mercenary, or whatever he chooses to be.
Darth Vader
The original intergalactic bad guy, Darth Vader could bring his iconic brand of evil to the series. Also, his multiple levels of character development could lend to some interesting plot twists as well. His once good, then evil, then good again character traits could become seamlessly integrated into the lore of Kingdom Hearts . And let’s not forget his Sith powers. He wields the ancient dark arts of the Sith with lethal precision and undeniable power. So should you have to face him in combat, it could be a light saber battle to the death, or he might just force choke you and toss you off a cliff.
Doctor Strange
This guy once channeled the full mass of the entire Marvel universe. Do I need to say more? He is a character who possesses untold magical abilities. He is a worthy hero with the power to channel magic energy into anything he sees fit: weapons, food, healing power, regeneration, and even immortality. He has created force fields around entire worlds to protect them and has absorbed the energy of an entire galaxy to use it against evil. He is able to channel his powers from several sources, which could become an interesting story arc, as well. Perhaps you would have to assist him in unlocking these entities so that he could tap into them to help you on your quest.
Wolverine
Logan makes the list for no other reason than he would be an amazing asset during combat. He is a berserker by nature and has the powers of an adamantium-laced skeleton, regeneration, speed, feral grace, and destructive tendencies. Also, his powers of dialogue, or lack of it, could become an endearing part of the next installment of Kingdom Hearts . His incessant use of the nickname Bub and other vocal idiosyncrasies would be a welcome plus to the dialogue of the fantasy-heavy world of Kingdom Hearts. He would bring a very human element to an otherwise surreal world and story. That link could be something very refreshing in a world where redundancy is always an ever-present fear.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
I would like to say that it would be cool to see the young Obi-Wan in action in the next installment of Kingdom Hearts . But actually, I think I would much rather see him as the older version of himself. One that you could find and speak to and try to garner some of his sagely, intergalactic wisdom. Even a cameo of R2-D2 and C-3PO chilling in the background fiddling with R2’s holographic projector could be funny. But either way, you can’t really add anyone from Star Wars without having Obi-Wan around. He is, for all intents and purposes, the mentor above all mentors who transcends death to return and guide young Luke Skywalker on his journey.
Yoda
Much like Obi-Wan Kenobi, you can’t very well add anyone from the Star Wars universe without having this little green badass around. Not only is he full of volumes of knowledge garnered over his nine-hundred-year lifespan, but he is also a formidable warrior and intensely powerful practitioner of the uses of the Force. Unlike my former comment about an older Obi-Wan making an appearance, I would much rather see the spry version of Yoda moving like lightning in a combat sequence somewhere in the game. His battle with Count Dooku showed us all how he could get down, and I would love to be able to see that in a game as well.
Silver Surfer
You can’t have Galactus in a game without the appearance, and hopefully assistance, of his most renowned former herald. Once the minion of Galactus, he would survey worlds to see if they were ripe for consumption by Galactus, then he would warn that world of its coming demise and then watch as Galactus harvested every last drop of energy from it. Fortunately for him, and hopefully us, he wields the Power Cosmic–the same power that Galactus himself uses. He can sustain himself by converting matter to energy. He never sleeps. He can survive in nearly all environments–even inside a black hole or star. He would be an incredible ally to add to your party in the coming Kingdom Hearts game.
