High on Life Premise
High on Life is a first-person shooter set in a wacky science fiction world. The game features an array of humorous characters, both human and alien, including talking guns (which are arguably the stars of the show). An impressive roster of voice actors and comedians lend their talents to the story, including the game’s creator, Justin Roiland.
The player takes on the role of a human tasked with hunting down and assassinating various targets in order to stave off an alien invasion of Earth. A variety of strange alien weapons are available for these jobs, including a range of talking guns known as “Gatlians.” Aside from taking down enemies, weapons are also used to solve puzzles and perform other non-combat tasks.
Although it’s a first-person shooter, High on Life features elements of Metroidvania gameplay. This includes platforming and puzzle-solving. Players can upgrade their skills and weapon abilities throughout the game, as well. Some of these can open up certain areas of the game which were previously inaccessible.
High on Life Main Characters
Players encounter a variety of odd characters throughout High on Life, and we’re not just talking about the sentient alien guns. The main character is the player, a human who gets thrown into a bizarre new world after witnessing aliens arrive on Earth. Here, the player receives their first alien weapon, a Gatlian named Kenny (voiced by Roiland). Other allies on your journey through High on Life include the player’s sister Lizzie, the bounty hunter Zaroothian (now a homeless bump), and Zaroothian’s old talking knife, Knifey.
After becoming a bounty hunter, the player takes Zaroothian’s place as a bounty hunter and takes down G3 Cartel leaders. This alien gang, led by Garmantuous, is responsible for the invasion of Earth. Garmantuous has plans to turn humans into drugs, and the player must stop him by hunting down and killing G3 members throughout the course of the game.
High on Life Cheat Codes
High on Life does not feature support for cheat codes on any platform. However, PC gamers can install a cheat engine (or trainer) that enables the use of cheats. Unfortunately, console players are out of luck here – trainer software is only available for PC users.
WeMod is a popular trainer program that can enable cheats in High on Life, although there are others if you search around. As of now, WeMod offers 14 cheat codes for High on Life. These include power-ups like infinite health and shields, unlimited ammo and fuel, and free money. You can also mess around with game physics, letting your character jump higher, move faster, or fly.

After completing the Nipulon Bounty or Garmantuous Bounty, the secret ending to High on Life will become available. To access it, simply go to Clugg’s Office on Nova Sanctus and retrieve the key card on the desk. Then go to the Human Haven in the Unknown Sector. Once there, use your jetpack to get up on the platforms above you. You’ll eventually find a door with a red light.
