Guilty Gear Strive Summary
Guilty Gear Strive is a fighting game developed by Arc System Works. Originally released in 2021 for PlayStation 4, 5, and Steam it came to Xbox consoles in 2023. Guilty Gear Strive received generally favorable reviews and sits at 84, 85, and 87 on Metacritic across its platforms. The game continues to be praised for its visuals, mechanics, and net code. The game is the best-selling in its franchise and has sold over 2.5 million units.
Premise
Guilty Gear Strive was meant to break the series into the mainstream. The game completely rebooted the franchise. Guilty Gear Strive pushed for change while keeping everything that makes the series what it is intact. It removed one of the series’ signature mechanics, The Instant Kill, for a new mechanic, The Wall Break, that allows stage transitions when combos are initiated in the corner of a stage.
Guilty Gear Strive Main Characters
Guilty Gear is known for its eccentric cast of characters and Guilty Gear Strive is no different.
- Sol Badguy – He is an aloof and brash bounty hunter of immense skill. He is on a quest to find and eliminate all Gears and their creator, That Man.
- Ky Kiske – A former member of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights, Ky is a charismatic swordsman with a strong sense of justice.
- May – She is the young-looking and spunky first mate of the Jellyfish Pirates and is utterly dedicated to Johnny, her captain.
- Faust – He is a medical prodigy who has gone insane and is one of the most unconventional characters in the series.
- Potemkin – He was a former slave in the Zepp Armed Air Empire. He was also a supporter of the democratic revolution that took place.
Side Characters
- Chipp Zanuff – A former drug trafficker and addict. Chipp struggled in the streets of his hometown until a man called Tsuyoshi took him into his care.
- Zato-One – By sacrificing his eyesight, he became host to the Forbidden Beast Eddie and gained the ability to fight with his shadow.
- Millia Rage – A former member of the Assassin’s Guild, she fights with the skills of her old occupation in search of a better life.
- Axl Low – He is a gang leader from the 20th century who got caught in a time slip that bounces him around irregularly through time and space.
- Anji Mito – A young man of Japanese origin, he chases after That Man out of sheer curiosity.
- I-No – She is a time-traveling musician who seems to derive pleasure from tormenting others and is one of That Man’s three servants alongside Raven and Jack-O’ Valentine.
- Leo Whitefang – Leo is one of the Three Kings of the United Kingdoms of Illyria, governing over twenty nations in the European and Asian regions of Illyria.
- Ramlethal Valentine – A servant of the Universal Will and Elphelt Valentine’s older sister, and successor to the first-generation Valentine, Ramlethal’s objective is the destruction of humanity.
- Giovanna – Accompanied by a wolf spirit called Rei, Giovanna is an officer in the special operations unit that protects the President of the United States.
- Nagoriyuki – He is described as a noble vampire samurai who wields a bloodsucking blade.

Guilty Gear Strive Unlockables
This title has a fishing minigame that you can participate in while in the online match lobbies. This is the primary way to unlock things such as avatar customization items, BGMs, Movies, and other collectible items such as rare fish. You can access this fishing mini-game by following the following steps:
- On the Main Menu, select Network and Online Match.
- Press R1 or RB to access the Park. Choose any lobby you wish.
- You can either warp using a sign, or you can walk to the right in the lobby.
- Eventually, you will come to a bridge, and the soldier standing on the left side of the bridge will help you access the fishing mechanic.
