The highly anticipated Han Solo spinoff film is set to debut in May 2018, with shooting expected to start in London sometime early next year. The decision to include a Solo spinoff as part of the resurgence of the Star Wars brand since Disney’s acquisition is a no brainer. This exciting news got us thinking about who we’d like to see featured on the silver screen next. Let’s take a look at our top picks.
Boba Fett
There have been a few rumors going around about Boba Fett getting his own flick within the last year or so, but it seems to be more of Disney kicking the tires than anything. Regardless of the speculation and the depth of those claims, a movie featuring the galaxy’s baddest bounty hunter, and how he got to that point, would be awesome. Just think about seeing the origins of this iconic figure and how he came to be the most feared and influential bounty hunter around.
Poe Dameron
Star Wars ’ surprise breakout character entered with a bang in Episode VII and added another dimension to storyline. Personally, I though Poe’s character was exactly what the film needed to maintain a shroud of its past glory. Giving Dameron his own spinoff would make for an extremely entertaining and enjoyable Star Wars film. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the comic book – why not use that as a springboard for a feature film?
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi is one the most complex and multidimensional characters within the Star Wars saga. A film featuring one of the original Jedi masters, in his days before Qui-Gon Jinn, would certainly make for an interesting concept. Bringing fans back to the early days with Obi-Wan could yield some of the old school nostalgia and rightfully extend our beloved hero’s storyline.
Chewbacca
Now, a Han Solo movie isn’t complete without his trusty 200-year-old Wookie, Chewie, so we know hes already pegged for a role within that film. However, that story is purely about Han Solo, and a young one at that. Chewie had several years before he and Han began smuggling space junk across the universe. Sure, he was a part of the Clone Wars, but what about before then? What about the days of young Chewie, when he was a wild and crazy Wookie warlord? Those are the days I’d definitely pay to see.
Yoda
Yoda could possibly star in the greatest Star Wars spinoff the world could ever experience. Bringing moviegoers all the way back to the days of early Yoda would be totally awesome and would help put the wise one into perspective. Many questions remain unanswered about Master Yoda and the origins of his epicnesss. The dude is 900 years old, I’m sure he’s done some interesting stuff in that time. Lets make it happen, Disney!
