Ubisoft Made Lots Of Money Last Quarter

Ubisoft Made Lots Of Money Last Quarter

None

Ubisoft has revealed its sales figures for the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, reporting an overall profit up 27.2% from last year. The publisher says its sales totaled €131 million (or about $161 million) for the quarter.

The company credits a couple of high-profile titles in particular for the success. The latest Tom Clancy title, Ghost Recon: Future Solider, sold “higher than expected,” and was reportedly the best-selling console title in the U.S. for both May and June. Online and digital titles such as Trials Evolution, which sold over 100,000 copies on Xbox LIVE Arcade in a record-setting day, were also credited.

As for the rest of the year, Ubisoft’s next quarter is highlighted by the release of the free-to-play PC title Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online. While the company doesn’t expect to match the strong sales of last year’s second quarter, which was bolstered by the surprisingly successful Driver: San Francisco, it does have sure-to-be blockbusters like Assassin’s Creed III and Just Dance 4 still to come this holiday season. Expect the cash to keep on rolling in for the French game developers.
