Nintendo has posted its earnings report for the first quarter ended June 30, 2012, and it would appear that the company is still going through less-than-stellar financial times. While not as bad as last year’s net loss of ¥26 billion—roughly $332 million—the Big N has confirmed a total net loss of ¥17.23 billion ($220 million) so far this year. Nintendo reports the loss despite noting that selling, general, and administrative expenses have all decreased compared to this time last financial year. In that time, Wii sales dropped from 1.6 million units to 510,000, and DS sales went down from 1.4 million to 540,000.
Of course, earnings reports such as these could either get much better or much worse for Nintendo, depending on how successful the Wii U is whenever it comes out. By Jeff Dunn |
