Sony has reported that in the second fiscal quarter of 2008, their operating losses increased to $841 million, which is over double the $381 million recorded for the same quarter last year.
The losses stem from the selling of PlayStation 3 at less than cost and the “the increase in PS3-related inventory write-downs.” However, the company as a whole made $787 million.
On the other side of the console wars, Nintendo has tripled its profit forecast to $3.7 billion for this fiscal year. This would show an increase of 86% from last year’s final fiscal results.
