EA Turns a Profit

EA Turns a Profit

None

As publishers continue to report on their first financial quarter’s earnings, it is nice to see the companies who are improving on what they accomplished last year. According to Gamasutra, EA has posted a first quarter profit of $96 million, which is a dramatic increase from the $243 million loss they reported last year during this same time period.

Much of the company’s success was claimed to come from their high market share of HD consoles (22%), PCs (33%), and the strong growth of digital sales. Despite releasing five fewer games during this period, six down from eleven, strong performers such as Fifa and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 combined with strong sales of digital games across the iPhone and iPad helped to carry the company to its first quarter profit.
