Sega Reports Profit

Sega Reports Profit

None

Despite the slew of reports of game companies such as Nintendo and Capcom losing profits, Sega seems to be doing rather well for themselves. The company managed to rake in $80.8 million in their first financial quarter, according to Industry Gamers (via 1Up). However, this profit didn’t come from where most would expect.

Sega reported sluggish sales from both of their major recent releases, Alpha Protocol and Iron Man 2, moving less than two million copies between the two. So where did Sega’s profit come from? Apparently, much of the company’s success can be attributed to their pachinko and pachislot business, which more than doubled revenues year over year. While this may seem strange, at least it is helping to keep the company in the black.
