Capcom Losing Profits

Capcom Losing Profits

None

In a day that saw both Nintendo and Sony reporting first quarter disappointments, Capcom has joined their ranks. Capcom is another company feeling the burn of a strong yen and a “stagnating economy” in the US and Europe, according to Gamasutra. Their profits have dropped ninety percent and are down to $25.3 million.

Games like Lost Planet 2 were singled out as causes for this downturn, with Capcom stating it “underperformed its projection substantially.” However, the sales of Monster Hunter Tri and Super Street Fighter IV were not as disappointing and were said to be growing. This substandard first quarter is likely the reason we’ve been hearing reports of Capcom planning to release their high-profile titles more quickly. Hopefully, this strategy will pay off for the company in the future.
