Valve Turns Down Hollywood

Valve Turns Down Hollywood

It’s no big secret that movies based on video games tend to suck. However, video game studios rarely turn down the chance to turn greatest works into a box office disaster. Why? Well movies still seem to be held in higher esteem than videogames as far as art goes. In addition, a movie is almost always good publicity, even if it sucks.

However, Valve has just become one of the first gaming studios to flat out refuse a Hollywood deal. According to an interview on a recent episode of the Nerdist podcast , Newell and Valve have been approached multiple times by Hollywood studios, but have refused every offer. Apparently, movie makers just does not understand the passion that Valve has for gaming.

In other Half-Life news, test footage for the canceled Half-Life 2: Episode 4, otherwise known as Return to Ravenholm, has been uploaded to Youtube . It’s an interesting look at what could have been, but hey, now we have Half Life 3 to look forward to.
