Vince Zampella Confirms Titanfall Will be 6v6 Maximum

According to Respawn Entertainment head, Vince Zampella, Titanfall matches will be 6v6 maximum. Zampella posted this to twitter, saying that the studio toyed with bigger and smaller playercounts, but 6v6 worked the best with the game’s A.I..

He isn’t referring to bots, rather he is referring to a number of A.I. companion troops that will aid the player in every multiplayer match. In that way it’s a lot like a MOBA. In fact, players can even have their own personal Titan follow them around in guard mode while they explore the map on foot. This will allow the Titan to fire at your enemies, though its firepower won’t be as great as it would if it was being piloted by a human.

These A.I. soldiers are Respawn’s answer to the newbie problem in first person shooters these days. Newbies tend to do nothing but feed more experienced players kills, allowing them to build up killstreaks and vastly unbalance the game early on. These A.I. controller soldiers will give newbies something to shoot at, and while killing them will earn fewer points than a player kill, it will be enough to at least let newbies compete, power-wise, with a veteran player. Once again, it’s kind of like a MOBA that way.

The 6v6 label is a count for humans only. When all soldiers are added together, we are looking at some battlefield scale conflicts. We will bring you more information on Titanfall ’s gameplay as it becomes available.
