Wanted: Dead is a third-person shooter/hack-and-slash game developed by Soleil. The game was released in February of 2023 and received mixed reviews from critics. Although Wanted: Dead had the charm of old-school hack-and-slash games, it lacked the technical polish to make it stand out. Players looking for something a little retro and punk will likely fall in love with the high-paced carnage of Wanted: Dead.
Wanted: Dead Premise
This bloody game of swords and bullets takes place in a cyberpunk-like world. Players will take control of a member of the Zombie Unit, an elite Hong Kong police squad. In the attempt to expose a major corporate conspiracy, players will slice and dice their way through hundreds of company goons.
Wanted: Dead Main Character
In true cyberpunk fashion, players take on the role of a cyberborg convict named Hannah Stone. Hannah has earned herself a life sentence behind bars, but she has the opportunity for freedom. Because of her unique skills and abilities, Hannah has been recruited to join the Zombie Unit. In exchange for commuting her life sentence, Hannah must join this bizarre police force on their life-threatening missions. Wanted: Dead has all the makings of a Suicide Squad-like story.
Wanted: Dead Spiritual Successor
At the moment, Wanted: Dead is a stand-alone game with no previous installments or sequels. This makes it a perfect place to start if the idea of crime-fighting cyborgs appeals to you. Wanted: Dead‘s developer Soleil has been a part of the industry for a while, and this isn’t their first hack-and-slash game. Soleil are the minds behind classics like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Both franchises are known for their over-the-top violence and hyper-anime style. In a way, Wanted: Dead is the spiritual successor to Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive.
Wanted: Dead Cheat Codes
In the modern age of gaming, cheat codes are a rarity that few games indulge in. Most other games would have in-game purchases to make the game easier, but Wanted: Dead stays true to its roots. There is one cheat code in Wanted: Dead that turns this brutal shooter into a much easier joy ride. While on the title screen, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Left, Right, Right on the d-pad.
Once the code is entered correctly, players will hear a chime letting them know that they’ve unlocked Neko Mode. Neko Mode is the Wanted: Dead’s lowest difficulty. This code has a secondary function that unlocks all five of the game’s minigames. Players are free to play Target Practice, Crane Game, Ramen, Karaoke, and Space Runaway whenever they want.
This same code can also be used in the title screen for the Space Runaway minigame. Instead of unlocking an easy mode, the code unlocks the Hard Mode for Space Runaway. This is the only known cheat code in the game. We wish there were more, but it’s nice to know that cheat codes aren’t a thing of the past.
