We Finally Get to See More of the Canceled Metallica Game

Years ago, Metallica was going to get a video game. It was going to be a take on Twisted Metal starring the guys from the band and featuring their music. While Black Label Games never brought Damage Inc., as it was going to be called, to the PlayStation 2, concept art and game trailers appeared on sites like Unseen 64 . Now, we have an even better idea of what Metallica’ s game would have looked like.

PtoPOnline has put together an over seven minute video of Metallica’s Damage Inc . The footage shows cars racing around huge arenas. One looks like a parking garage, while the other is a construction site in the desert. Some Mad Max style cars appear, showing off a gameplay system that would allow people to add extra armor to customize vehicles and improve their abilities. At almost the three minute mark, it shows off a system that would have allowed people to abandon the car they had to take over a better one, while later footage shows a garage where cars could be swapped.

While Twisted Metal is the easiest thing to compare this cancelled Metallica game to, I think it looks like the Mad Max game we should have gotten. The environments are huge. The cars seem to have a lot of character. It seems like there would have been multiple objectives. It looks cool, and it’s a shame this game never made it to market.
