Weapon Levels Aren’t Lost When You Prestige In Black Ops 2

Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar took to Twitter over the weekend to address the long-held fan question of whether or not players will lose their weapon levels when they Prestige in the upcoming Black Ops 2.

In past Call of Duty games, moving up a Prestige level (which essentially means restarting the entire multiplayer leveling process from level 1, for those unfamiliar with the franchise) would result in a complete reset of most of your past stats.

In Black Ops 2, however, Vonderhaar reported that “If you Prestige and unlock a gun, you’ll pick up right where you left off.”

“Just got this bug from QA. ‘Weapon levels are given after unlocking a gun that was leveled up on a past level progression.’ That’s what we call NAB. Not a bug,” Vonderhaar said.

So, say you level up a certain gun in one level progression, and then Prestige. When you unlock that same leveled-up gun in the next progression, it’ll be right at the level you last left it when you decided to enter into the new progression. Phew.

Black Ops 2 is out on November 13.
