World of Warcraft attempted abduction ends in arrest

Tamara Broome, a 31-year-old Australian woman has been arrested after allegedly attempting to abduct a 17-year-old male friend she’d met playing World of Warcraft.  The couple was apparently preparing to get married, as Broome had plans to bring the 17-year-old back to Australia with her.  However, she’d been lured to North Carolina by the boy’s parents, who’d set up the sting to catch Broome in the act.

Broome is being held on a 2.35 million dollar bond and faces up to two years in prison.  North Carolina law states that any 17 and below are considered minors, which nullifies any age of consent arguments Broome’s defense could have utilized.
