Xenoblade Chronicles X is going to be the RPG on the Wii U this holiday season. I mean that quite literally, it’s the only RPG we have to look forward to on Nintendo’s platform for the foreseeable future. If we have to make do with one, though, I’m glad it’s this one. Xenoblade is a huge game, and the game world is virtually seamless. Unless you launch into a cut-scene or trigger some kind of event, you won’t be encountering any loading screens in the course of your explorations.
Because of this, it’s advised that you go ahead and download and install some data packs to ensure that your gameplay experience is as speedy and as smooth as possible. There are four of these packs: Basic (2 GB), Enemy (2.7 GB), Player (3.6 GB), and Skell (1.7 GB). It’s recommended that you install at least the Basic Pack, but if you have the room, all of these will greatly enhance your gameplay experience. If you pre-purchase and pre-load the game from the eShop, the packs are built-in and will download automatically. If you plan on picking up Xenoblade next month, do yourself a favor and get these packs loaded now so you can start exploring straight away on launch day.
